The kitchen renovation at Wembley Downs.
The kitchen at Wembley Downs was funtional, however it was small and dated. We planned to improve the look in a couple of ways. Firstly we would knock down the wierd internal walls that were dotted between the cabinets. Secondly we would remove a large window and replace it with a smaller one. And thirdly, build a stud wall between what would become the TV lounge and the kitchen. In addition we would lay new wooden floor boards throughout to tie all the living areas together.

The plan for the renovation
The first two pictures show the kitchen from opposite ends. We plan to remove the window shown in picture 3 and replace it with a smaller one that would sit above the new kitchen counter. Then the two rooms would become a single galley-style kitchen.
The demolition
The Child’s photo bombing started at a young age! It was too expensive to move out, so we kitchen-camped while the renovations took place. The first thing that happened was knocking down the little walls between the cuboards. Goodness only which builder thought those were a good idea?
Kitchen-camping!
We learnt early on never to throw away any old sheets or towels, they would always come in handy in situations like this.
Almost a clear slate
The hard (and dusty) work is done and now we can see the shape of the new kitchen.
New cabints
The cupboards are in and we are waiting for the new window, counter tops as well as the new floor.
