The entrance and front garden renovation.
The exterior of the house was a sandy coloured face brick, in other words dated! The small garden was overgrown, however it would be easy to tidy up. The car port was open to the back patio and as a result there was a little bit traffic noise.
Before
After
We chose a coloured render, which was hellish expensive and we certainly won’t do that again! To separate the car port from the back garden we had a carpenter install a stud wall and we painted it in the same colour as the render. It made a massive difference to the noise level in the patio and the overall look of the house. We also painted the roof to finish off the tidy up.
Clearing the small garden
We pulled out most of the shrubs and bushes, because wanted to make the areal look bigger. The last picture is a view down the side of the house and shows there is no real boundary fence between us and the neighbours.
Preparation for the new lawn
The brick paving had sunk in places so we re-laid that where necessary. We have removed the plants and are preparing the ground to take some turf.
Lawn & colour bond fence
We laid the lawn oursleves and consequently saved a bit of money. The garden is still a work in progress as we work out what will grow well under the tree. We paid to have the colour bond fence installed – which was expensive. Next time we would like to try to do it ourselves.
Done…
