I wanted to tackle a few chalk paint projects and decided to treat myself to an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint 101 workshop held by the lovely ladies of Mon Petit Palais. The course was really interesting & we got to practice all the different techniques ourselves.

I had loads of ideas about what I wanted to do & felt quite confident to start tackling them. In these projects below I used the French Linen & Pure White paints as well as White Wax. The most important purchases were the brushes, I bought a small & medium natural bristle brush & a large wax brush.

Plastic pots from Bunnings

I bought these cheap plastic pots from Bunnings and painted them with Annie Sloan French Linen paint and then rubbed over that with white paint. I then waxed them with Annie Sloans wax.

IKEA mirror

This mirror came from IKEA & had a black frame. Using the same French Linen & white paints I had used on the pots, I gave the mirror a fresh look.

Bunnings shelving

I bought some floating shelves from Bunnings & those got a lick of paint as well! These two shelves came up so well with a good polish after applying the wax.

Tonga door hall table

This was a Tonga door hall table that The Child made at school. I decided to only paint the top of it white and leave the legs as natural wood.

Bedside table, lamp base & shade

The bedside cabinets were over 20 years old & the wood is beautiful but I felt like a change, so got out the inevitable French Linen & white paint. I had to do the lamps a couple of times but eventually I liked how they looked. I was able to paint straight onto the fabric of the shades as the chalk paint doesn’t need a primer for any surface.

Teak kist

This teak kist was also a beautiful piece, but I decided it needed a change! This time I only used the white paint & sanded it down to get the distressed effect. I added 4 fat little legs to the base of the kist to raise if off the floor. I found that by lifting the furniture off the floor it seems to makes the space appear bigger.

TV Cabinet

I was loving painting furniture but was running out of things to paint. So I thought this might TV cabinet would look good a lighter colour!

Chest of drawers

I left parts of this peice unpainted and changed the knobs as well!

Thanks for looking through the picture of my chalk paint projects. You can see the full home renovations that contain these items of furniture in our Wembley Downs and Claremont blogs.
